Police in Kampala metropolitan has arrested four people suspected of breaking into and stealing property from Our Lady of Assumption-Mwereerwe Catholic Parish, located in Gombe division, Nansana Municipality in Wakiso district.

It is alleged that these people looted valuables worth shs 13 million, as well as tore the clothes of the priests and damaged many other properties.

The parish priest, Rev.Fr James Matovu, told us that the stolen items included 1 Amplifier, 1 Mixer, 1 microphone receiver, 1 Keyboard, 4 microphones, and the thieves broke the Radio Maria box, the flock box and damaged the priests’ clothes.

Rev. Fr. Matovu urged the youth to work so as to earn lucky money, which they will enjoy instead of devoting themselves to theft.

The Christians in this monastery, led by Francis Kasolo Walusimbi, expressed their dismay at the violence which was done to their monastery.

The police spokesman in Kampala metropolitan, Patrick Onyango, said the four arrested will assist police in the investigation, and will be taken to court for prosecution.
