About Kato Lubwama

Renowned for his extraordinary skills in theater, where he has excelled as one of Uganda’s best drama actors and singers, Lubwama first rose to fame as a radio presenter with Central Broadcasting Services CBS FM in Mengo with his “Kalisoliiso” morning show, ranking as the most listened-to radio show for decades. His longtime partner and co-host, Abbey Mukiibi, now leads the 88.8 FM best-trending skit.

Kato Lubwama, a man of many trades, later joined politics, becoming an MP in the 10th Parliament representing Rubaga South, which he wrestled from John Ken Lukyamuzi, ‘the man’. His tenure in Parliament was characterized by his popular talk that he had come to the house to eat, advising his voters to always wait for his second term to also eat. He later lost the 2021 general election to Hon. Aloysious Mukasa a fellow politician and man, but from the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) political party.

The late Kato Lubwama was a known member of the Democratic Party and a critic of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government until later in Parliament, when Muhammad Nsereko toned him down. He is most popular for his open talks with dramatic attacks on the well-placed unveiled.

He will be greatly missed by his colleagues in the entertainment industry and Parliament. A known blogger, passionate about Buganda’s well-being, and a lover of art and music, the big-eyed (Biiso) and popular street boy born of a charcoal seller goes to rest. Rest in peace. Kato Lubwama
