The Ministry of Health in Uganda is in the process of educating people about cancer and how to avoid it.
According to Dr.Joseph Okware, in the fight against cervical cancer, women over the age of 25 should be screened regularly and if the cancer is detected early it can be cured.
Girls between the ages of 10 – 14 should also be vaccinated against cervical cancer, to prevent them from contracting the Human Papillomavirus, which causes this type of cancer.
There are two doses of cervical cancer vaccine, with the second dose to be received six months after the first.
Similarly, all people are encouraged to eat fruits and vegetables, exercise, not drink too much alcohol, avoid smoking and other things that put them at risk of cancer.
