The Eastern division accountant was yesterday, 19th June 2023 knocked dead in Tororo-Nagongera road around Kisoko Sub County.
Nathan Funa Samba the accountant in charge of revenue mobilization in the Eastern division of Tororo municipality was riding a motorcycle registration number LG0014 133 UG boss red in colour and he was carrying a one Issa Hihoba swaiybu resident of Amagoro B central in Tororo municipality who were said to be from a funeral in Busolwe town council in Butaleja district.
Tororo District Police Commander (DPC) Adam Kimuli confirmed the incident revealing that the fatal accident is believed to have been caused by Mitsubishi Fuso car registration UBJ734Z after the car door hit the motorcycle that was carrying the duo and this was identified by a driver of another car that was trailing them from behind.
Funa died on his way to Tororo general Hospital whereas his passenger Issa Hihoba swaiybu is currently nursing injuries at Mbale regional referral hospital.
Meanwhile, the death of Funa has remained as a shock to his colleagues at the Eastern division.
Martha Apimo, the Eastern division senior assistant town clerk says she has missed a staff who loved what he did.
Apimo noted that the tentative burial day for Funa is Wednesday (tomorrow) however they are yet to sit with the family to harmonize on the burial date and place.
Moses Amani, the community development officer of Eastern division and a close associate to Funa said his workmate’s death came as a disbelief. He described Funa as an open person who never hid any information from his colleagues.
The Eastern division chairperson, Simon Peter Ochom described Funa as a hard-working person who had few words but his good deeds spoke a lot about him.
He says the division is doing all it takes to ensure that Funa is accorded a befitting sendoff.
