Football

Football, also known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the hands and arms, which are only allowed for the goalkeeper within their penalty area. The sport is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, overseen by organizations such as FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) at the international level. The game is known for its wide global appeal, cultural significance, and is associated with various major tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup. It is one of the most popular sports worldwide, drawing millions of fans and players, and is played at both amateur and professional levels. The term “football” can refer to various forms of the sport in different countries; however, in most contexts, it refers specifically to association football.
