Museveni lashed out at Western countries that pretend to fight for human rights and constitutionalism, yet they are leading the way in violating them by meddling in the political affairs and decision-making of developing countries.
Museveni said that although the colonial era is already over, many western countries still want to give orders and understanding to developing countries.
Museveni told the Western leaders that it’s time for them to take away their dictatorship.
President Museveni added that what developing countries want is only markets for their products in European countries and investors, not control and regulation.
Museveni went ahead and urged the NAM to focus on development, transparency, common voice, technology, improving productivity, opening up markets without conditions, and other issues that benefit them as an alliance.
After the president’s speech, the leaders began discussing various issues, but journalists were ordered to leave the meeting room.
It should be noted that this week-long NAM conference started on 15 January, 2024 and it concludes on 20 January, 2024.
