The pardoned include former NSSF chairman, David Chandia Jamwa ,who was sentenced to 12 years in prison by former Chief Justice John Bosco Katutsi in 2011, after he defrauded the country of more than Shs 3 billion.

Others pardoned include Owino Jackson, who has been charged with murder, and was sentenced to six years in prison.

The other 11 prisoners were on charges of dating minors, including Ntale Vincent who was sentenced to 4.5 years, Grabo Nelson to 20 years, Omirambe James to 6 years, Leku Francis to 3 years and Kabila Joseph who was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Yoha Ayitia 4 years, Kato Fred was sentenced to 7 years, Okello Zakaria was sentenced to 5 years, Nono Joseph also 5 years, Ouma Mesearch John was sentenced to 7 years , Aliama Samuel was sentenced to 3 years.

Prisons spokesman Frank Baine said all those pardoned would be released based on their crimes, with the department deciding the terms of their release.
