The security was tightened within and outside the landing strip of Entebbe international airport where the delegates landed together with heavy deployment on major routes and the rest of the city.
Police and military kept patrolling the premises, looking for any suspicious activity.
Coasters branded with the 19th NAM and G77+ China Summit initials were spread throughout the packing space spots of the airport ready to transport the delegates.
The guests are being housed in designated hotels spread out in Kampala and Wakiso districts.
Between 1,000 and 1,500 delegates are expected to attend the summit that is going to run from January 15th to January 23rd at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
More arrivals of other guests including ministers of foreign affairs are expected within this week as the summit takes shape.
It should be noted that by January 12, thirty heads of state and government had confirmed their attendance and these will arrive in Uganda on 18th January ahead of their sessions on that very day and on Friday.
The NAM summit that is going to run from today 15th January to January 19th is going to run under the theme, “Deepening Cooperation For Shared Global Affluence,” where as the G77+ China Summit will take place from January 20th to January 23rd under the theme,
“Leaving no one behind.”
These summits are the largest to be held in Uganda since 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which saw the then Head of Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II of England and delegations of the member countries of the Commonwealth attend the assembly.
