Robert Kyagulanyi’s film was selected for the International Documentary Association Documentary Award at the 39th annual meeting of the International Documentary Association.
Kyagulanyi’s documentary tells of his political journey and all the challenges he faced in the 2021 election campaign, including the human rights abuses committed against him by the security forces.
The film also describes the deaths of his supporters during the election campaign, the arrests, and permanent injuries, including the deaths of more than 50 people in the November 2020 protests in Kampala.
It also describes the protests Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and his supporters staged in 2017, when parliament lifted the presidential age limit from 75 years onwards.
During that time, the army attacked parliament, several MPs were beaten, and many are still burning with injuries while others were imprisoned.
Kyagulanyi’s documentary has been launched in various countries.
