Authorities in northern Uganda have expanded their deployment and intensified operations against the defiant cattle herdsmen commonly known as balaalo, in Gulu district.
These security officials are now holding 1460 heads of cattle impounded from fleeing herdsmen.
The initiative overseen by fourth Division Commander Brig Michael Kabango, is extending to 94 kraals in Gulu district.
This move, known as Operation Harmony, is part of the presidential directive to evict the herdsmen from northern Uganda.
This order came after the concerns that the herdsmen were grazing on public land farms of the locals there.
According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga the, some of the compliant herders have been escorted out of the region by the security forces.
