Masindi: The Masindi grade one magistrate court magistrate Salsa Biwaga has this afternoon remanded Eric Bagajire for faking his 13-year-old daughter’s defilement to Masindi Government Prisons until the 25th of this month.

On June 10th, 2023, Bagajire reported a case of defilement at Masindi Central Police Station, stating that his 13-year-old daughter, a primary four pupil at Masindi Army Primary School, had been grabbed and raped by an inmate at Masindi government prisons.

However, suspicions arose when medical examinations conducted by the police and Masindi General Hospital yielded negative results, indicating no signs of penetration or defilement.

According to the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza, further investigations and interrogations revealed that Bagajire had coerced his daughter into falsely claiming that she had been defiled by Katwesige.

“After realizing that the police had unearthed the truth, Bagajire went into hiding but was later apprehended from his hideout in Masindi town,” Hakiza said.

The regional police spokesperson told Netizen posts that during the interrogations, Bagajire admitted to providing false information to the police and requested forgiveness.

He says that Bagajire disclosed that he had collected blood from slaughtered animals at a nearby abattoir and applied it to his daughter’s private parts to create the illusion of defilement.

The suspect was detained at Masindi Central Police Station before appearing in court.

About the inmate

The embattled inmate was identified as Vincent Katwesige, from Kagadi district, who was convicted of defilement some years ago.

The 23-year-old inmate has about 7 months to finish his running sentence of 6 years.
