Busia health center IV in Busia district has received 8 beds and 13 mattresses to help accommodate the overwhelming number of mothers who go to the facility for delivery services.
The beds were donated to the health facility by the Busia Municipality Member of Parliament Geoffrey Macho after he lobbied from the ministry of health.
Dr. Yusuf Lule, the Busia Health center 4 in charge said that they register between100 to 200 expectant mothers at the maternity ward who go in labor suit and they have few beds that cannot accommodate the mothers, leaving some of them to deliver on the floor.
Busia Municipality Member of Parliament Geoffrey Macho who delivered the beds said the aim is part of his pledges he made during campaigns on improving health services.
Sadiq Amin Agele, the Busia municipality mayor, asked the legislator to help lobby for the Busia health center 4 to be elevated to hospital level due to the high number of patients at the facility.
Ojambo Mikah Masinde, the chairman of Busia health center 4 management committee said that the donation by the area legislators is just like a drop in an ocean. He appealed to other well-wishers to come to the rescue of the health facility especially on the challenge of insufficient beds.
