Every 9th June Uganda commemorates Heroes day where many heroes and heroines are remembered and celebrated. Those who are outstanding are awarded medals in different categories which are always accompanied by some brown envelopes

This years celebration will take place at Kololo independence grounds this Thursday and president Museveni is set to be the Chief guest ahead of Uganda’s 50th independence celebrations which will happen in October.

In regard to the National Honors and Awards Committee enacted by parliament in 2001, Museveni will award 81 individuals will be given medals for their different contributions to the republic of Uganda.

In a statement released by the Minister of Economic monitoring Peter Ogwang seen by this website, 34 individuals will receive 50th Anniversary golden jubilee celebrations in recognition for their outstanding service and loyalty to the country, 17 will be awarded Nalubaale medals for their contribution to the political development of Uganda.

Other 18 individuals will be awarded Luweero Triangle medals for their struggle to end dictatorship in Uganda when they joined the army. Five will be given Damu medals which are given to army men wounded in action during the liberation struggle.

In the same line, other four individuals will be awarded long service police medal which is given to officers with 30 years plus of active service in the Uganda police and other two will be given long service silver police medals for their 20 years plus of clean and uninterrupted service to the force and two will be given honorary medals which are given to civilians for showing unwavering support towards the police programmes.

Notable of these is Kakira Joel who will be given a Golden Jubilee medal for donating his land in 2018 to government where Mabere Health Centre III in Sheema District was built and he also pays fees for many children and has given scholastic materials to Rweicumu Primary school in the same district.

The others are Adoko Judy the Executive Secretary for Lango cultural Foundation, Ola’robo Tom a former Airline pilot of a DC-19 aircraft to making it possible for Museveni’s FRONASA (a then Rebel outfit) to fight dictatorship back home.

The other big name is Afande Fred Enanga who is Police’s spokesperson since 2018 who is going to be awarded a Golden Jubilee Medal. Prior to his juicy job now, Enanga headed the Economic Crimes Department and worked as CID Commander for Kampala Metropolitan, Commandant for land protection police unit, Commissioner CID Administration and Training among others.
